Hello, Fangirl!

So, here I am finally reviewing Ipsy’s July Glam Bag and yes, I do know I should have reviewed the others too, but sometimes you are just not into writing and time passes by and though I know that’s not the point I think that there’s nothing wrong with taking some time to gather your thoughts and come back full charge.

If you’re an Ipster, like me, then you would have noticed that the website underwent over some changes, that’s why my featured image look is different from my previous Ipsy review.

This month’s glambag made me think about Resident Evil’s Umbrella logo, which I guess has to do with being a gamer and loving makeup. If you’ve been following my blog I hope you’ve read about how important it is give Ipsy a chance beyond just one month and don’t make rash decision over issues that might happen; I review them so you can have a better look first hand and try them out.

Eyebrows speak louder than words

Hello, Fangirl!

As someone who has always had bushy eyebrows I’ve been struggling to find a place where someone would make them look good and natural, but also to be affordable and client centered.

For a while I tried to book an appointment at a specific place, but their customer service and availability for new customers was awful and I had given up until yesterday. A friend of mine found this very forthcoming, price-listing and open to new customers place in Santa Ana.

Yes, I am FAT!

Hello, Fangirl!

Today I’m going to talk about something that happened a few days ago where 2015 Playboy Playmate of the Year, Dani Mathers, decided that it was okay to snap a picture of a woman taking a shower after working out at gym in the US.

After she received a huge backlash from several people on Twitter (including Tess Holiday who quoted AlyssaGRodriguez‘s tweet) she deleted both her Instagram and Twitter account. She went on to apologize on Snapchat about what she did, but the damage is done. Not to her or her canceled gym membership or to her reputation (which it was), but to all those women who are afraid to go to the gym because of that kind of behavior.

This made me want to write about being fat, if you read one of my old entries you’ll see I’ve been kind of building up to these kind of topics.

Summer 2016 Beautycon box!

Hello, fangirl!

Welcome back to my blog and join me in today’s beauty related review.

You might not have heard about Beautycon and their subscription box and that’s more than fine, I’m here to help you out with that.

Every season Beautycon pairs up with a makeup guru to and together they curate a box with beauty implements that will help you during that time. My first box was the Spring box where they paired up with Bunny Meyer (Grav3yardgirl), but that review is for another entry.

Inside this box you’ll find 12 must-have summer items and don’t worry if you’re not a summer fan; in my case I’m more of a Winter kind of person, you’ll see that the products included in their biggest box until now will only benefit your makeup collection.

Here’s something you need to know first: time is running out for you to get one as their supplies are not unlimited! You may subscribe for $99 and this is a year subscription or you can pay $29 for just the one and it will be renewed next season unless you cancel it.

Ipsy’s January 2016 Glam Bag

I bet a lot of judging eyes are on me since it’s almost June and here I am reviewing the January Ipsy Glam bag and, believe me, I’m already judging myself. Severely so.

As you might already know I’m a fairly recent Ipsy subscriber and makeup lover and I want to share my journey with whomever reads my little blog. My first step was not subscribing to Ipsy, but going to Sephora and admit to the cast member that I was a woman who had never taken her time to learn about makeup and I needed to get basically everything. The result was amazing and I was so very pleased that remembering that feeling helped when I decided to subscribe.

I have a year subscription, which I know a lot people see as a risk, but from my point of view is better if you just go all in and then stop thinking about those extra $10 you would have had to subtract the next time you get paid.

This is the first glam bag I got and honestly, acquiring it for just a month is not really enough to decide if you like Ipsy or not. Like I said before, give it a chance!

Knowing next to nothing about art I would say that this bag’s idea was to make you think of those Pop Art paintings that subsequently make you remember Andy Warhol. That said I think it’s a pretty bag and one worth keeping.

Ipsy, give me my money back!!!

I woke up this morning and as the social media addict that I am, no shame in admitting it, I checked Twitter and I found that Women Are Complaining That Their Ipsy Makeup Is Arriving Smashed Or Broken and yes, I had to read it.

As you may know I am a recent Ipsy subscriber and I actually wrote about them in my previous entry hoping it will help you decide if you want to give them a chance or not. Honestly speaking and knowing I’ve failed so far on keeping the blog entries at a steady pace I should mention that I have had two issues with Ipsy  so far.

In my March glam bag I got the Beauty Blush Duo in  Peach Honey by Petra and it was broken into a million pieces like my heart did when I saw it and then my April glam bag was missing from the pink package. I understand the feeling of waiting and waiting for something that ends up being broken or just doesn’t arrive, but from there to feeling like you are being totally ripped off? I think it’s a little bit of a stretch.

Don’t get me wrong! I understand that we’re paying for good, not damaged and definitely not missing products, but sometimes it seems some people lose perspective of things. We’re paying $10, that mean time spend working to earn it and something else we could have bought, but we get five makeup products that usually are worth a lot more than that amount. On top of that Ipsy’s customer service is one of the best I’ve had to contact when something happens; they’re nice and attentive and they resolve the issue right away.

When I contacted them about the Beauty Blush duo they answered my email in less than 10 minutes and when it was about my April glam bag they answered in less than half an hour. They apologized and sent me the items right away.

I would love for all of us to get an awesome experience all the time, but there are always last minute things and accidents. Such is life! Coming from someone who is very prone to anger outbursts I know it’s complicated to not go to social media and rant and there are moments and situations where we shouldn’t stay silent, but others are just a matter of taking a deep breath, reach out through the appropriate channels and then wait.

My recommendation is still the same: give Ipsy a chance and try it for yourself! Make sure you review the items you get in your bag so they can curate the content for the next ones. If after this you think that Ipsy is “a joke” or “I hate all my items” or “I only get two or three that are good” or “they are ripping me off” I would advice you not to renew your monthly or yearly subscription and spend the money on something else you’d rather have.

Take it as a life lesson too: if something or someone is not making you happy, making you feel excited or motivated then why should you keep getting it every day, month or year?
